Tecmo stop screwing around before you and Nintendo kill off a well known and respected gaming franchise ffs!
The sales flopped for the wii version. We all know a ps3/360 release outside Japan would sell ALOT better because of vastly larger core demographic on those consoles. Bring it home where it belong, and don't spare the eyecandy. |

yes exactly right, stop screwing around and make the games, we'll worry about what console we'd like to play on

Without knowing exactly what is going on at Tecmo it isn't fair to say that they are screwing around. To get a better idea of what could be going on you have to consider the fact that Tecmo is a Japanese company and a small one when you compare them with other famous publishers over there.
The current console situation in Japan is. Wii 6 million DS over 20 million PSP over 10 million PS3 2.4 million as of October 12th. As of next month it will have been two years after the launch of these 2 home consoles. It's obvious which home console is going to get preferential treatment and Tecmo isn't the only one doing it. TGS 2008 pretty much confirmed this. It is believed that the Wii will hit 7 million in Japan next week, giving it almost a 4 Million lead on both HD systems combine over there. More than 2:1 where as in the US the Wii is 4 million units behind HD and EU where it is almost equal to HD. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Lord Dorkus, |

You must also take into account the politics going on with Tecmo.
Tecmo's recent former president spoke out against the PS3 when Sony first announced it. In fact, only one of tecmo's games since the announcement was released to the PS3 (but it was also released to the Xbox360 as well). Kikuchi-san also made it no secret in several interviews how intrigued he was with the Wii console interface, and mentioned in at least 2 non-fatal frame related articles about the idea of fatal frame on a wii console. (Not to mention, the only games - up until Quantum Theory of course- had he designed were for the Wii console. (Save for Kokoro which was PSP & PS2, and even Gallop Racer 2008 was for the PS2!) All his other games, for the Wii. Honestly, the game has sold over 80,000 copies in Japan. It's not a dud in sales. I would focus more on getting the game to come to the states before crying for a port. Not to mention, playing the Japanese version of the game, without seriously going back and doing some major recoding, it would not be an easy task to recode this game so it could be released on a seperate console. |

Japan is no longer a major factor anymore for console gaming. The majority is into portables. I hope Tecmo Japan isnt discouraged by the poor sales in the homeland.
Even if a game for a home console does well in sales, the numbers arent even half of what they would be if the same game were sold in the States. |

Sorry, but there is no way 80,000 sold payed the development cost (this wasn't some wiiware short party game) let alone made any profit. Which is even more surprising that Nintendo and Tecmo are playing hot potato telling to contact the other when people are sending them emails about release date outside Japan.
It's poor business practice, heads need to start rolling up there in tecmo land. |
