So, I heard a rumor that DOAX2 save data is somehow tied to a particular console and not simply a harddrive. And if I try to play my old saves on another 360 with my harddrive in it, it would not find those saves. Is that true?
The reason I ask is because I was just Red Ring O' Deathed and I wanna gauge how mad I should be about it. Thanks for any info! |

Actually I had to replace my 360 since the release of this game so when I go home I'll give I'll load up a save and will tell you what happens. I do know that if you needed to replace your system the Ninja Gaiden/Black and DOA3/U saves won't work because their saves are tied to the system(I would hope that if there is anyway to fix this please do so.) just like they were on the Xbox 1 unfortunately. If I remember correctly DOA4 still worked properly. It will be at least 8 or 9 hours before I get home so please be patient.

That's really super annoying if it's true. Especially with the 360's tendency to die. I only know ONE person now who has his original 360. And his is dying.
Thanks for the prompt response, guys. Maybe I can try to see if they'll return my actual console back to me or something. |

Just wait a little while longer for me to confirm it. There is always the chance that the save is locked to the gamertag.

I have had this game from day 1 and I am absolutely positive that I have not played it since March last year at the latest. I had to replace my system right after the Halo 3 launch.
Drove home from work just to try it out as promised. I popped the game in the system, it booted up and it choose the option to travel to New Zack Island. The game loaded at nighttime and Lisa seemed to be the last character I picked. I checked her inventory and suits that I gave her as Hitomi, Christie and I think Helena are there. In short the saved game worked on a system other than the original. Now I don't know if this has always been the case and Tecmo might have done an update if there were any problems with this game but I can confirm that it worked for me at least. I'm going to try Ninja Gaiden and DOAU to see if those saves work now and I'll get back to you on that. Just make sure you restore your gamertag when you get your system back. Also based on the info on the INTERNET, if you want to upgrade your hard drive you might need to keep your old one. People are saying that they are experiencing issues with the hard drive transfer process. When it does the transfer it formats the old hard drive so use caution when you decide to upgrade. You might run into a problem if you try to take your save over to a friends house. The save is likely tied to the profile on the hard drive but if someone else can confirm if this is the case it will be greatly appreciated. This message has been edited. Thanks for the info, Lord Dorkus!
I haven't downloaded the latest patches to the game. I might go ahead and try the harddrive in another 360 now and see if it works. If not, I may go ahead and install the update. Question, when you say to restore my Gamertag, what do you mean? Besides booting it up and loading up my Gamertag, I mean. |

You need to wait until your(a) system comes back. I wouldn't recommend doing that on a 360 that is not your own. It's been while since I had to do it so I can't give you all the details but right now you wouldn't want to do anything to that might mess up the save so just wait until Microsoft sends your(a) system back before trying anything. There is a chance that you can just put the hard drive back on the system without any trouble but I do remember having to go through the whole setting up the the 360 thing all over again. So just wait and follow the directions the system gives you when you get your(a) 360 back. Did you call them yet? Also it turned out that I had to update to play Ninja Gaiden which likely means that I cleared the system cache at some point before or after the crash. This means that there wasn't an update for DOAX2 on my system. The Ninja Gaiden saves still don't work and actually are marked as damaged in Ninja Gaiden. This message has been edited. I personally believe that the save is tied to the HDD or memory card you save it on. So swapping out the console is not a problem.
When my launchtime console rrd'd my current save game loaded with the refurbished console I received on return. A while after playing with my refurbished console, I received notification of a HDD read error. While I was able to reboot and access the HDD, the read error made me think that the original 20GB HDD was on its way out. So I bought a 120GB replacement with the thought that I could transfer my save to the new HDD with the 360 transfer utility. The file transferred to the new HDD; however, when I loaded up DOAX2, I got the new vacation video and was unable to skip. It had replaced my old vacation file with a new vacation file. (I am assuming that there was a checksum based on the HDD id number and when that checksum errored out the game treated it as bad data.) I know that the 360 HDD has a unique ID to it. The back-up utilities expressly warn against copying an image to a new HDD because the hardware id will be different and the 360 will not recognize the drive. I have since recouped and now have 4 girls at 100% suits, but still it would be nice if a newer patch allow you to at least move (not copy but move) your save to another data store. |

Have any of you tried saving to a memory card or transferring your save to a memory card? That would be a nice back up in case you decide to upgrade or something were to happen to your hard drive. All things with mechanical parts will go bad eventually. Memory cards as long as they aren't physically abused should out last any hard drive that isn't solid state.

The memory card does not work either.
DOA4 was my first bout with memory cards. I bought all the clothes at the crystal boutique, I decided to just get a few achievments and just have what bathing suits for the girls I wanted. Memory card does "not" work for this problem. NINJA |

I know for a fact that it's (or mine) is on the HD cause I took the game and my HD to my nephews' house and played it on both their systems as well as mine. Everything was saved.
