Is anybody else still having a problem getting online?
I keep getting a message that I can't play with my team, then it disconnects me from the server.

Yes, this is getting ridiculous. I now can't play with Atlanta, Green Bay, or Tennessee. I think someone else said they can't play with Tenn also. I wonder if they are the same teams for everyone. Also, has anyone been able to play a team after it said you couldn't? If so, what did you do?

I now can't play with San Diego as well. When I try to use Jacksonville it always just hangs on the data transmission screen and nothing happens. I have to reset my DS.

They sure aren't. I sent them an email a week or two ago and still haven't heard back. So I called them last Friday and a tech told me he would look into it and to call him back in about two hours. I call back and he made it seem like everything was fine (but he sounded like he was more concerned with something that was going on in the background at his office). I was at work so I couldn't check, but he said to log on later or the next day and if it still didn't work they would be closed for two weeks and to try again after January 1st. Good to hear they take care of their paying customers and technical problems with their games so quickly.... yeah right.

I urge everyone who is having this problem to bombard them with calls after the 1st to get it fixed. Here is their number as seen on their site:
310-944-5005

OK, so get this, after messing around with some of the teams that it would not let me use I end up changing the 2nd kicker and punter's name to something else and now I can use the team. Let me explain a little further, I updated the Atlanta team to real players except for the 2nd kicker and punter- I left them the "stock names" from the game. I played for a while with this team, then got the message that I had to change teams or player names. The odd thing is, it would not let me play with the fully stock (unaltered) Atlanta team as well. So I change the two names and now it works... I haven't tried with the other teams it won't let me use, but I will in the next few days.

For whatever reason, I suddenly can not use the Jacksonville team online thru Wi-fi. Also, there seems to be an abundance of quitters playing this game.

Whomever uses the Atlanta team at the 6,000 level and yet your players seem to be somehow far beyond that I just beat you 10-3 and once the game clock hit all zeroes you quit. I WILL NEVER PLAY YOU AGAIN. And I know it's someone that I have played before. So whenever Atlanta comes up I will not play you.

I can't use JAX either- it just freezes on the data transmission. Not sure if this is related to the name thing as well, but I will try updating it like I did with ATL.

I know what you mean about the quitters... I cannot believe Tecmo didn't put some type of disconnect penalty. I am also starting to think the way they programed the wi-fi protion is just crap though because sometimes there are disconnects it seems like for no reason. And the lag...

When I first started playing it seemed every team was at 8K-13K, now most games are stock or in the 5K range. Now that I can use ATL again I will probably bring it down from 8K to mid 5K. It's so lame you can't cancel out of the connection and choose a team that matches your opponents points better. Tecmo really dropped the ball on this. What makes it so frustrating is that Kickoff could have been a really great game if they just did some simple fixes to problems that never should have been in the game in the first place.

I believe there is a language filter that prevents you from using some names online, even if they are accepted by your offline game. In some cases, it may even be a stock name causes a disconnect.

I tried changing the two names on Tenn I didn't alter and it still won't let me use that team. How do you know there is a separate language filter for online and where can we see what is filtered so we can fix this problem?

I read about the online filter somewhere, maybe gamefaqs. It's just a theory I believe. As for them fixing anything, if you look at their "official website" it's pretty obvious Tecmo isn't putting another dime into this game.

Agree with Dajabec on this one. I went to the "official" Tecmo Super Bowl Kickoff website and it has been "under construction" for a minute now.

Sad thing about online play is how in the world is the point system worked out? Like I won about 5 or 6 games and got something like 200 points higher, but then I lose 1 freaking game and drop all the way back down!!!!! How does one lost cancel out like 5 or 6 wins? Come on man, I mean your not going to win every game.

Hello Everyone,

We at Tecmo Inc have checked the wifi connectivity for TBK and have not seen that problem occuring as of today. It seems that the problem has been fixed but please let us know if it still occurs.

Additionally, please excuse the late responses The Customer Service reps for both Game Calls and the Tecmo Forums were in the holiday break.

Thank you.

Uh, it will connect to your current wifi access and you can play games via your connection.

Without getting really technical. The nintendo ds is wi-fi compatible, so as long as you have a wireless access point you should be good to go. A wireless router can be used, or if your in an area that is a "wi-fi" hot spot the DS should work. Also, you can buy the Nintendo DS wireless hub which looks like a thumb drive. Plug it into your computer download the software and your DS is good to go. You can buy those right online on Amazon.

Tecmo Forums Webmaster, now that we have your attention when are some of these flaws with the game going to be fixed or are they going to be fixed at all? Like addressing players that quit games by penalizing them points, beefing up the customization, statisics and online play etc. Please check out the forum topic "If you make a 2nd tecmo superbowl on DS please do this" There are lots of good suggestions.

It's pretty obvious Tecmo SuperBowl has lots of fans both old and new. And right now we want the best game possible. TecmoBowl was the original football game way before Madden or NFL 2k. Bring back 10 yard fight!!!!!!

Thanks, so I need to get wi-fi. For some reason I though DS was like a cell phone and it could connect from wi-fi anywhere...

This has NOT been fixed. I tried to use the teams it wouldn't let me previously and it still doesn't. I get the message that you cannot use this team or name and to choose another, then you get logged out. Very annoying. Does this still happen to others as well, or has anyone been able to get this problem fixed.
