Hey Webmaster, I was hoping you could give us a clearer picture on the next Tecmobowl release. It's been almost a year since it was announced and we have not heard a single word since.

No screen shots, information about gameplay..not even a platform! When is the game expected to be released? What platform?

If you cannot answer these questions, when can we expect to see more information?

Thanks for any insight!

Hello Primetyme,

I can answer your questions regarding Tecmo Bowl, but at this time that information can not be disclosed to the public for development reasons. Hang tight and I am sure that our fans will be informed about Tecmo Bowl soon.

In other words check the forums for news concerning the game. I have no idea when they plan or revealing stuff but I'm sure once the game is revealed, forum members will have put much of the news together in one neat place so you won't need to search very hard for it.

Welcome to the forums by the way.

Well, Tecmo...it's about time. I am very excited about the news and I am counting the days until release. Although it would have been nice on Xbox360...I'll take what I can get.

Webmaster, ant details on whether it will use dual screens? Will the game be played holding DS sideways like Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword. Will it only be stylus controlled or can D-pad also be used? Finally, how will abilities be distributed? I can't wait to use my running back with 94 hitting power.

Anyway, Thank You Tecmo. Tecmo Super Bowl is the greatest game ever made. Period. Please don't mess up the classic gameplay for us longtime fans.

I was glad to hear that Tecmo Bowl was making a comeback UNTIL I HEARD THAT IT WAS ONLY COMMING OUT FOR THE DS AND WASN'T BEING BACKED BY THE NFLPA, what are you guys thinking putting out a Tecmo Bowl that isn't going to live up to the other Tecmo's before it! Tecmo is one of the best football games made, my freinds and I would pull an all-nighter playing a season to see if one of the teams we were controlling could win the superbowl the only time you could sleep is when you did't have to play so that might be a 15min nap it was the best time. You guys have to remember Tecmo was Madden before Madden do it the right way and reclaim your football title.

1. Nobody can currently purchase player naming rights from the NFLPA except for EA. This is the meaning of the word "exclusive."
2. It's coming out on the DS first and then probably on the Wii. Given that all current handheld football games are clunky and lackluster, Tecmo obviously sees an opening that will allow them to produce a version of the game that should be developmentally cheap. I'm not sure if the Wii version being made will be dependent on the success of the DS version.

Given the gameplay and ability to edit players/teams, this version will probably live up to your semi-unrealistic expectations of a brand new game that is completely like the old game. It will be interesting to see how the Wii plays out.

Well knobbe.org if they are in development on a new Tecmo bowl then they must have an agreement on a new game with the NFL Players Assoc. And if I remember correctly Tecmo came way before EA and Madden. It would be in the players best interest to expand thier bottom line. Besides Tecmo isn't going to take away fans and money from EA Sports. If most fans are like me They will go and buy both games.

You seem to be misinformed sir. Tecmo is going ahead with this game DESPITE not having any naming rights. However, they will let you customize every team name and player name. My guess is that the teams will have players that just happen to match up with current NFL players and will be waiting for you to change them to the appropriate name.

The NFLPA decided it was in their best interest to have just one game with their brand to not confuse consumerists and so that the market would not be watered down. You may disagree with it and there is nothing you, I, nor Tecmo can do about it at this time. However, if this thing hits big (as well as the Wii) there just might be a chance for NFL Licensing when the contract is up.

I was already aware that EA had the rights to the NFL & the NFLPA that was the point I was trying to make I guess you missed that! I just don't understand how any body can get excited about playing a watered down version of classic football game, ooooh so you can edit teams(because their will be no STEELERS,RAMS,COWBOYS,BEARS)and players becaus thats what I want to do when I first bring home a brand new football game! other games have tried this before and I can't think of one that was that big of a hit unless you can? Expectations for a game has a big stake in if a game is going to be hit or miss, now I didn't have big expectations about every game that came out after the first Super Mario Bro. or The Legend of Zelda but I was excited when I read about the new improvements for each game that came out in those two series, those games took steps forward with each new game the new Tecmo Bowl isn't doing that it's taking a step back maybe I'm the only one that sees this.

NFL Players and names don't make a game, or else Tecmo wouldn't bother because Mobile Madden would be dominating. Honestly I believe that if both of these games came out and were extremely successful to the point that the NFLPA decided at the end of 2009 when their exclusive contract expired to let Tecmo in, I don't think Tecmo would bite considering the expense of the licensing.

Realistically, waiting until NFLPA licensing came around to do it right means that it would never happen given it would be way to big of a gamble if you buy this licensing and the product failed.

While there probably is a lot of pride factored into this release, there is always the bottom line. The why and how of the DS release and future Wii release are very purposeful. The DS release had to be quite easy from a development standpoint and will serve to indicate how successful a Wii release will be as well as providing advanced notice for the Wii release. If the DS release is unsuccessful, you will probably see the cancellation of the Wii release.

Hopefully Tecmo will allow people to share their rosters and you can simply download it from a friend or something like that.
