I have been playing DOA2 on my PS3 and wondered why the others were on X-Box. So I went to Wikipedia and found that DOA3 was planned because of the release of the X-Box and DOA4 seemed as if it was 360 only because PS3 wasn't out. I also noticed that DOA5 has no confirmed platform.
IM all for DOA5 going the cross platform route. Mostly because 1, I dont have a decent stick for my 360 and 2, PS Network is free ^_^
In a perfect world Id like to see Team Ninja really go at it on a PS3 game. They've always made Xbox games that maximize the system's performance, but the PS3 has yet to be tapped. However, as indicated in interviews, they seem to like the 360 because its easy... which doesn't sound like the Team Ninja mentality of old.

Personally it doesn't really matter to me because I own both systems. Although I'm kinda in the same boat as DeathCom because I'd like to see what Team Ninja could do with the PS3 hardware.
DeathCom, you have to look at it from a development standpoint as well. If a platform is easier to develop on then that means you have more time to devote to elements such as gameplay and overall content instead of spending most of your time and budget just getting the game up and running. That's provided you aren't developing on two or more platforms at the same time. So you have to ask yourself, would you want a game that is longer and more fun to play vs a game that could ultimately be less so respectively in the long run?
In other words, just because something isn't easy to develop for doesn't ultimately equate to it being the best from a development standpoint. Increased difficulty set within a development time frame equals less time to devote to actual gameplay and content.
I would keep it on its "home" platform. XBOX is on a 5 year cycle and they will most likely always have the newest tech. I would keep DOA on XBOX first then port.

But there should be a DOA in some form on the PS3. PS3 is a platform and has a good amount of fans to support Tecmo. I dont own NG for PS3 because there is nothing else announced for SONY, if however Tecmo showed some more serious support I would purchase NG and the DLC for it.
I know NG on PS3 is sick I just need to see more support.. ie DOA or NG2 down the road...

WE THE FANS WANT TECMO GAMES ON PS3!!!!
Even if I cant get NG2, I still LOVE all TECMO Team Ninja games. SHOW some LOVE back!!!!
SHOGUN O! We love the enthusiasm!
Tecmo is a developer/publisher of videogames on multiple platforms. We've obviously made a game for the PS3 and had much success so we're obviously open to the idea of making more. If the time comes to announce something, we'll be sure to say something through the press and on our website and forum.
Thanks for your support!

Sad news, Itagaki is delusional once again about where DOA stands. A recent interview herehas him saying that DOA4 is still the definitive fighting game, and that his team isn't looking to extend the series at this point.
That interview also has Itagaki saying Ninja Gaiden Sigma was no good and was trying to copy the success of Ninja Gaiden. WTF? Thats exactly what it is. If its no good, then Ninja Gaiden is no good. But anyway, I hope he fired that 'sub-ordinate' who was responsible for that no good game.
Anyway, so yeah, looks like DOAU will remain the definitive DOA experience. I gather we wont be seeing a new DOA until some new hardware comes around.
Frankly, I don't think he feels confident that his team can make a game on current hardware that can compete with Namco & AM2's latest efforts. He always had the hardware advantage with DOA, but no more. Hence why he is waiting on it.

I don't think that is totally it. Some Team Ninja fans have been getting the feeling that something else is going on. There is a good chance that there will be a Ninja Gaiden 3 or a DOA5 but at this point don't expect Itagaki to be in charge of those games.
I prefer that the sequels to fighting games be generational rather than have 2 or 3 a generation anyway. Also this generation the fighting game genre is about to become very crowded very soon.
I think Project Progressive is next. There is no telling when or if Code:Cronus will be unveiled.
...rethinking things a bit he could also be saying things like this because he want everyone attention to be focused only on the game that is coming out soon, NG2 rather than a game that have pretty much made almost all it's money or games that might be 1-5 years away. Unlike Namco and Sega I think TN has the right idea about things like this. It's a good idea to remain focused on what needs to make money right now. This message has been edited. Well I agree that three sequels in one generation is a bit much, two is just about right. One at the start of the generation, and one at the end. It worked out great with Tekken 4 & 5. DOA3 to the ... well prequel DOAU. When the games are far apart like that, new optimization leads to improved visuals, and refined gameplay due to not blowing the whole budget learning new gear and pushing the envelope with uncharted hardware.
However, in today's world we are seeing updates and expansions for fighters. Rather than a whole sequel, just something new to keep the current game fresh. This is the model that seems to work best today. And now with the current consoles, these updates can be downloaded, no need to buy a budget version of the game down the road that only has a bit of new. Perhaps a DOA4 update as such would be possible, but its already been so long...
But I would agree, this project progressive is likely the next release after NGII.

This will probably be one of the first news items that I won't post but I will say that recent events confirmed many hardcore Team Ninja fans suspicions about what was going on. The first part of what I said above is very true.I'm sure someone else will post the news. It is pretty big but I'm not sure if it should be posted here.
