It's been many years since I visited this forum, hardly recognise this place lol.
Anyway, on subject These are mostly serious but some light hearted additions thrown in. Needs To be designed for tournament play - ie Depth, long lasting appeal. Less scrubby, less juggling lets leave that for Tekken. No comeback mechanics, if you suck then you suck deal with it, we don't need ultra meters lol. Bring back the DOA2 arcade counter inputs, no more spamming counters. ie press forward then back. Less focus on Ninjas. Let's have a balanced game where ninja are not all top tier, or have better command grabs than grapplers. Graphics - less focus on cleanness, from the trailer it looks they've gone for a grittier look which is great. Customization + Credits- give the game a longer shelf life by implementing an RPG like system where gamers can change their characters appearance, and gamble credits for bigger prizes. All the stages, all the costumes, from previous games. Costume swap - ever wondered how Baymen would look in Bass' biker gear or Bass in a teletubby outfit well you can with costume swap. you might as well rename this topic to "Dead Or Alive 5 wishlist" so everyone can input their wishes for the game.
I really don't care for a wishlist. All I care about is the priority for DOA 5 is to become a fighting standard game like Mortal Kombat, meaning: *a proper story mode like Chronicles mode in DOA Dimensions (Mortal Kombat story) *Challenges/mini games *tons of unlocks- (Team NINJA are no stranger to unlocking so this is obvious it will be achieved) *proper balanced and better online system *keep only the core DOA characters and introduce massive new characters. * dialogue should focus on character story+attributes+attraction+relation. MvC3 nailed it. *it should play like DOA3 with new fighting mechanics, sequences and game mechanics If all DOA characters return with additional 2/4 characters with new stages. I won't be buying this game. It will look like another DOA 4 Expansion Pack instead of being a new game like- Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter Third Strike or Street Fighter EX whereas only the core fighters existed but tons of new characters were introduced. Mortal Kombat was acceptional because it was a reboot so they kept the good ones and wanted to change many things, much like DOA Dimensions. For an example SC5 is looking to be another SC4 Expansion Pack. Too many SC characters returning and only 4 new people revealed so far. |

Only core characters? That's a risky one, what about people who invested in a character since DOA1 suddenly find their character has been ditched! Like in Street Fighter 3.
I don't care for the new DOA4 characters at all, so if you mean core as in DOA original cast, I'm cool with that, though Brad Wong was so unique I would like him to stay. Team Ninja could follow Capcom's strategy and release new characters via DLC. I'm happy with this provided it's new martial arts not ninjas and underage teens >_< I've stopped caring for single/story mode, so I hope all characters are unlocked for online play. If Team Ninja want to spend time beefing up storymode, that's cool but story mode won't increase the lifespan of this game unless they do something really cool like Capcom did with Alpha 3 back in the day. Otherwise forget about it, focus on the greatest game mechanics and netcode. Dev's have proven they do not have the time and in most cases aren't as creative as their fans when it comes to customizations. well when you look at main franchise of fighting games. Not only did Street Fighter made several rehashes such as Street Fighter 2, Turbo, Super, world fighting, world tournament. Man I can't even count how many rehashes and remixes there are for SF2. However Capcom manages to create new series to SF: Street Fighter Alpha by introducing many new characters and keeping the core such as Ryu, Ken, Chun Li, Sagat, Bison. And with Alpha 3 they brought back all the classics and introduced more new comers. Street Fighter 3 was an entierly a new game which I love. They only kept the core characters- Ryu, Ken, Akuma & Chun Li. The rest are totally new characters making sure this is a 'New' game and not Expansion pack. Not to mention Street Fighter EX series, I only played one of the series so I can't remember the core characters there but I do know a lot of new characters were there. How many SC and DOA games are we going to have? DOA1 to DOA10, are nothing more than rehashes, updates of previous games, an expansion pack. Why should have still have my DOA4 if DOA5 is coming out with few new characters, new maps, better graphics etc? There's no point. Developers need to provide GOOD reason why we must still keep our old games and still play them! If DOA5 was a new game with core characters- Ryu, Kasumi, Ayane, Helena, Hayate, Hitomi and the rest are all totally new characters with new gameplay mechanics and concept. This will be a 'new' game and it would be a game I would buy and thus giving me reasons to still keep DOA4. Why? because if I miss Elitot or Christie I can just pick up DOA4 and replay. And I disagree with Team NINJA following Crapcom aka Salarymen methods. All Capcom ever does is abuse the fan service and milk their wallet. Why the hell would you want to charge for colour Platte swap for Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3? Yes DLC characters will be idea but I like how Neatherrealm studios did MK, by introducing fan service characters and homage character like FREDDY. Capcom just milks all DLC. You are right storymode wouldn't increase the game's lifespan. But you have to remember that some people buy fighting games for entertainment and not for competitive gameplay. Also games are so expensive so it would be stupid to buy a fighting game with no story at all, we all want a bang for our buck. They should just make the story like Chronicles Mode or Mortal Kombat. I believe developers SHOULD not dare waste their time with customizations, it is beyond stupid. Project Soul went way too far with SC4's custom parts. Instead of gamers should fight online, all they did were creating dress up games like Barbie doll and uploading their custom edit characters online to Youtube. Really ridiculous! Customization should exist in Fighting games however they should not be deep or else you'll find casual gamers making dress up games rather than fighting which is the purpose of buying a fighting game. Can't emphasis this enough, less juggling less spammy counters are the most important things to sort out. The whole juggling thing in DOA4 was stupid. Glad the game is shaping up to be DOA3 in the trailer gameplay. dybyhands00 I just want colour costumes like DOA3 did as well as different costumes. I really like Helena's black colour costume in DOA3. |

I agree with what you are saying but Akuma Chun Li werent in SF3 until fans complained, Ryu and Ken were the only old skool character that returned. And Hitomi is not a core character she came in DOA3.
Re character customization, I would prefer community created content than developer. If there was some way that the community could do designs then submit their designs for DLC then that would weed out all the crappy stuff. random thought, Jann Lee needs a finger jab (Bil Jee) this was one of the key techniques Bruce Lee used in Jeet Kune Do. yea Hitmoti isn't but all characters tied to DOA Tec, Mugin Tenshin and ninjas are the core characters for DOA.
I mean customization relating to Create a Content is nice. But I still believe Create a Content for fighting game drives people away from doing what they are meant to do: Fight. A lot of people are just interested in making Dress up game and game characters. Its so annoying to see people create Mario in Soul calibur 3, Mortal Kombat Armageddon, Soul Calibur 4. Why would you want to recreate the same character for different games? I believe every fighting game should have the same content Mortal Kombat did- Story, Challenges, mini games, Online, local gameplay, unlocks. Create a character can be implemented but should be limited. And I believe that Finger Jab is in Jan Lee's movelist. If its one of Bruce Lee's move then it must be in Jan Lee's moves. |

The DOA story is weak, Team Ninja really need to rethink how they tell the story because arcade mode for me just feels like a waste of time.
You don't want to pay $50 to have the story progress by only 1 scene. I haven't played DOA4 in ages, but I'm pretty sure finger jab isn't in the game. I was thinking how Jann Lee can evolve in DOA5, he needs some feints, boxing bob and weaves and anti-grappling techniques. Bruce Lee was all about 'if he grabs you, hit him' type mentality, get off the ground a quick as possible. It would be interesting to see if Team Ninja could incorporate more of Bruce Lee's approach and philosophy to combat to Jann Lee's play style. If Team Ninja or someone high up come across this thread, please look up Jeet Kune Do 5 ways of Attack. If you can apply this to Jann Lee he will truely be a unique personification of Bruce Lee. |

What I really need:
characters: There are so many beautiful characters in the Dead or Alive world but I´d like to see a lot of new faces + the already known ones. 30 + characters (old ones include) and I´ll be happy I would like to have a complete new ninja family ( or a clan if you want so) with more than 6 members. Story: add a real ninja war Eliot, Gen Fu, Jann Lee, Hitomi and others should take place in the story there are some German stages in DoA 3 and DoA Ultimate (laboratory and church), Ein was found in „Schwarzwald“ (a German place in Baden Würrtemberg), Hitomis father is a German Karate trainer,... So please let some parts of the story take place in Germany that make sense. Otherwise, screw it. I´d never understand why they´d add Germany to D.o.A.. Maybe it´s because japanes people like Germany and it´s architecture. Let the storymode look like Dimension or Mortal Kombat more than 8 hours of story mode ;P |
