It's another sunday, once again with another indulging topic to read.
Now this topic I'm going to talk about is "Games becoming obsolete". What do I mean by this? games no one ever plays anymore, people have forgotten or games that are dead. Now some people may disagree with me on this, because there are games collector around the world who will get their hands on classical and old games. I've been willing to develop my own flash sprite animation movie, though I've been busy with life and I don't have time to make it. When ever I get free time I use my free time to do something or play games. When I just think about different things to do I notice how life and time is seriously moving fast, it's moving way too fast! Back in 6th gen, I wanted to build up my collection games, like if I have Metroid Prime 2, I would get Metroid Prime 1 and on the same system. I even went as far as selling some multiplatform games on my Gamecube and just to get them on Xbox 1. Like I sold my "XIII" game on Gamecube and bought it back cheap on Xbox and I didn't play it. 7th gen, one day I was thinking hard at life about what will I do with all these games, I won't carry them with me when I die. So I decided to sell all my Xbox Games and console, Gamecube and games in which I ended up with £100, However I didn't completely sell all my games, I only kept the ones I'm going to replay again and again and never feel bored with. Halo Combat Evolve, Ninja Gaiden Black and Soul Calibur 2 were the 3 games I kept. So now I'm enjoying the 7th gen and lots of games coming out, in fact too many damn games coming out at once you wouldn't have time to play em all. Multiple Games being released at once I've always said to myself, soon I'll go back and play my original xbox games and some 7th gen games I have kept and haven't completed in difficulty or trophies/achievements: Orange Box, X-Men Wolverine's Origin, Xbox Games, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1 & 2, Uncharted 2 etc. Seriously, I really want to go back to these games but I can't! Too many games coming out, right now I'm playing Splinter Cell Conviction on Xbox 360, Bad Company 2 and Darksiders on PS3. I soon need to go back to Heavy Rain, if one day I go back to my old games, I would miss out new games about to be released. Don't forget God of War collection and no 3. OH MY GOD! Multiplayer Games becoming obsolete Recently Microsoft just cut off Xbox Live v1.0 for Xbox 1. So this lead me thinking that those Xbox 1 games have become obsolete then! Games like Unreal Championship 2, Conka, Halo 2 etc can no longer be played online. Mind you, the multiplayer are the hearts of those games. I know there are still people who played Halo 2, though now they will have to move on. Seriously, you really think those games will continue live and all you have to do is play the Single Player mode? What happens to the price of those games? Before Xbox games only costed £5 and under, if you want to sell them you'll get about £0.99 each. So now that Xbox Live have been shut down, how much will those games be? Will people start to trade them in? Moving on to other games Are games becoming obselte? I loved playing Halo 3, have a good ranking yet I haven't even used the game 70% like Ninja Gaiden! I wish to go back to it and kick some @ss and finish Legendary mode. Though Halo Reach is coming out and people will move on to it! So what is the point!? Same goes to Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, I need to enjoy more Co-oP missions and completely finish off the games. By the time I go around doing so, Ninja Gaiden 3 will be on the line to be released. - Purpose of Backwards compatibility Every time a new console comes out, people want backwards compatibility with it so they can play their old games again. I still want Backwards Compatibility on PS3 so I can play PS2 games that I missed out because I never owned a PS2: Devil May Cry 1-3, Chaos Legion, Gun Grave, Rachet and Clank, God of War (no need any more) as well as others that I have missed. I seriously don't know why people want Backwards Compati for a console so they could play their old games whereas they will never go back to them. Yes some people may though and those percentage of people are 20% who will use the backwards. New games are coming out here and there, achievements and trophies to make the game last longer and you are telling me you still have time to play old games again? Seriously, life and time goes too fast. Do you think games are becoming obselte? |

An interesting question. Personally, if there's any games I hope don't become obsolete, it's puzzle games, including Tetris. I'm a big fan of many puzzle games, and it would be a shame if they became forgotten. Speaking of which, Tecmo has a few, one I can think of off the top of my head being Deroon DeroDero, sometimes called Tecmo Stackers in the English language versions. It's very difficult but still a lot of fun to play.
