Now that the PS3 and Wii are now a year old I think it would be a good time to discuss what has gone in the past two years since the big E32005 announcements. Have the current generation of systems lived up to your expectations? What do you think of what has happened to the PS3 throughout the year? Do you think the 360 still has legs? Do you think the Wii business model will continue to beat out the other two systems for the rest of the generation? Do you think that will bode well for the next generation(Xbox 3, PS4, Wii2)?This message has been edited. Last edited by: Lord Dorkus,

I think that the SMART MONEY is in software. Can see the hardware side thinning out, some where down the line. PS... glad to see that LORD DORKUS has tried his best to keep this form going. Not many newbes, just a couple of the same old folks.

I anticipated the price drops. There was no way Sony was going to keep up with today's market if they kept the same high-intro prices. I am contemplating ordering a PS3 now that the unit has had a chance to get out there after a year. Generally that is when I purchase a platform. I still have my first-generation Playstation AND Playstation2... all still in mint condition and working order... so.. its time to move forward.. Besides, Final Fantasy XIII is on the PS3.. I CANT WAIT!

Yep I'm bumping this thread over a year later to so that we can once again try to discuss how this generation is going so far. I'm going to start off with the latest NPD numbers and go from there. For December
Life to date
Nintendo seems to be the clear winner when it comes to hardware sales this generation. It is almost certain after managing to sell 2 million units two months in a row without dropping the price or having a major holiday software release that the Wii end up being the most owned home console for the rest of this generation. It is believe that they could have sold more if not for supply issues. The question still remains as to how many of those people owned a PS2 last generation and how many PS2 owners are waiting until their system of choice drops in price. Top 20 Games of December 2008: 01. [WII] Wii Play (Nintendo) - 1460k 02. [360] Call of Duty: World at War* (Activision Blizzard) - 1330k 03. [WII] Wii Fit (Nintendo) - 999k 04. [WII] Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo) - 878k 05. [WII] Guitar Hero World Tour* (Activision Blizzard) - 859k 06. [360] Gears of War 2* (Microsoft) - 745k 07. [360] Left 4 Dead (Electronic Arts) - 629k 08. [NDS] Mario Kart DS (Nintendo) - 540k 09. [PS3] Call of Duty: World at War (Activision Blizzard) - 533k 10. [WII] Animal Crossing: City Folk* (Nintendo) - 497k 11. [WII] Wii Music (Nintendo) - ~480k 12. [NDS] New Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo) 13. [NDS] Personal Trainer: Cooking (Nintendo) 14. [360] Fallout 3* (Bethesda Softworks) 15. [NDS] Club Penguin: Elite Penguin Force (Disney Interactive Studios) 16. [WII] Link's Crossbow Training (Nintendo) 17. [PS2] Guitar Hero World Tour* (Activision Blizzard) 18. [360] Madden NFL 09* (Electronic Arts) 19. [WII] Call of Duty: World at War (Activision Blizzard) 20. [WII] Shaun White Snowboarding: Road Trip (Ubisoft) Software-wise things should be going well for western publishers and Devs with them jumping in this gen full steam ahead. Eastern publishers and devs on the other hand haven't really made a huge impact on this generation outside of Nintendo at least not like they did on the PS2. It almost gives the impression that this generation is still in an early phase dispite being 2-3 years into it.This message has been edited. Last edited by: Lord Dorkus,
