I'm playing Ninja Gaiden Sigma now for the first time, currently I'm on Very Hard playing with Rachel.

I've come across so many things and theories.


I'm starting to think Ninja Gaiden 3 will be a TERRIBLE game!

Keypoints:
*New enemies introduced in Sigma are all TRASH and annoying!
The bike armies are the worst of them all. How the hell can you kill them? Flying swallow only takes a hit twice, but after that depends on luck. Gallitino Throw, but you don't even get the move early during Very Hard and Master Ninja. Ninpos, how could you use it when you only have 1 slot available and there are 3 bikers.

The Fish Fiends, annoying as well! If you try flying them under water, you are trying to commit suicide, because they are harder to kill that way.

The humming Ghost. WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!? They have no attack patterns, all they do is move around and attack randomly. Make silly dumb noises and have no stage. I mean the ghost fishes were a better appearance than them.


*Controlling Rachel.
Her attacks are so slow!
You can't perform finishing or finisher moves.
Again her attacks are so slow, this is PAINFULLY ANNOYING!!!! Try spinning the analogue stick and see how delays she does the spinning move!
Do you know how long I spent dying dumb deaths and replaying her missions in Alma???
Rachel vs Gamov in Very Hard or Master Ninja...anyone!???


*The platforming is farked! Enough said!

*The Dragon Sword Tiger Fangs got its ups and downs.

The only thing I love about Sigma were the new features such as:
*Shooting bow while on air, this was the best feature in the game!
*Attacking while walking on water



I know they will fix Ninja Gaiden 2 in Sigma 2 which will be a better game.
But the developers of Sigma and Hayashi really need to create their own game and we should see just how good they are.
I mean coming up with this dumb platforming and enemies, how can Ninja Gaiden 3 be good???

the fish are the worst part of the game, regardless, its an amazing game. as for the bikers, i cant remember, it was a really long time ago, i used a weapon or technique to easily blow up their bikes or knock them off

When Team NINJA are making Ninja Gaiden 3.

They should add this type of Ninja.

Ninja who can dig undergound with their sword intact inside and above the ground.
This is the most famous ninja move and everyone knows that.
It was used in the movie Jet Li's Swordman 2 and Blood: The Last Vampire movie.

This move is actually great, because it works like how those imp fiends work. The imp fiends can dig undergound and come out underneath you. This is how this type of ninjas should be.

They should be called Gypise Ninja:P

We also need stealth ninja or shadowless ninjas. Ninjas who hide in the shadows and fight stealthy.

More ninja idea enemies.
There are two sick ninja movie coming out Ninja Assassin and Ninja movie. (check them out)


Ninja weapons:
Sleeping needle. Ninja's who carry a flute that can shoot out a needle arrow that puts enemies to sleep. If Ryu gets hit by one of these needles, it'll stunt him for a sec allowing other ninja's surrounding him to take a free hit on him. It sort of works like the Incendiary explosives, but these time it paralyses Ryu for 2 sec.


Don't forget Ninja Vanish. The smoke bombs Ninja's uses to vanish in thin air.

for the bikers, there are several points where you only need to block bullets, from there, you can easily attack a bicker who eventually stops right in front of ur face

fish fiends are much easier to kill if you slash them while they're turning, since you can't go head on or chase them, the only way is to get them is to swim diagonally from the front, or while they turn arround

I don't see why you complain about the humming ghosts,they're just free essence, simply stand there, and block only when they charge at you, since they don't attack while you're blocking, then after the recoil, slash them.

rachel is slow, but she got the power, so hit the attack button when you're a certain distance away from the enemies, like throwing a rock at a moving object, you have to time it right.

the two annoying things in NGS are piranhas (although I pretty much know how to kill them)and the brain-mosquito things, I hit one and the other stings me.

(the way to kill piranhas is to never finish a combo, it slows you down on the last hit, instead, while Ryu is swinging his weapon, stop hitting the button, and continue after he's done, beginning a new chain

since I've finished Sigma on Master Ninja, I'll like to point out some stuff.


The bikers are still bad design, since I'm not playing the game anymore, perhaps your method of killing them might be useful.

Ghost fiends are still a waste of space! They hum for nothing, and attack so ANNOYINGLY! When you kill one, the others swarm at you, it's really hard to perform an Ultimate Tech on them without them getting too close to you. I find them more annoying than the ghost fishes. I just don't want them in another game, the ghost fishes do more purpose than them and are more killing them they are.


Rachel isn't that bad, it's just that she's slow at attacking, countering, counter attack and performing 100 feat slash (rotate analogue). Her wall attack is pretty slow and she can't perform fiend sealer. But damn, she is strong! O_o So she's still acceptable!


A lot of people find the ghost fishes annoying. I did when I wasn't good at killing them, but now it's a cake walk.

Like the spider clan in gaiden 1, they kept throwing incendiary shurikens randomly and they hit u from time to time, at least their explosions could be avoided. But with the sleeping needles, Ryu would just get paralyzed with no way of moving and cause too much health loss, nobody would like it

and the vanishing bomb was already in the game, known as smoke bombs, they just need to make Ryu move further away from the smoke.

The sleeping needle is a mini second paralyser. It gives enemies free hit on you.

In Sigma 1, you know the Cave in Chapter 15. you have the lava cave and ice cave. In the lava cave, you have to cross a platform, and a HOT steam blows in different location of a pipe. If you get hit by the steam, Ryu will get stunned for a second.

Now think of this steam stunning technique as the needle paralyser. It won't be annoying, you just have to roll/dodge to avoid the damage.



As for the smoke bomb. I'm referring it to the enemies not Ryu.
Team NINJA could use this in two principles.
1. Ninjas will use the smoke bomb to distract Ryu, Ryu (you) won't be able to see the ninjas because of the smoke, so the ninjas can attack you from behind, left or right at any time.
2. Escaping: A group of ninjas appear in front of Ryu lets say 5, Ryu quickly dispatches 4 of them. The remaining is left, so he'll use the ninja vanish to disappear. When Ryu carries on his journey, that same ninja will appear again bringing this time 4 more ninjas with him. So basically, if you can't kill all ninjas within a time limit, 1 of them must escape and you'll have to deal with that same ninja with another 4 aiding him.



Any body want Cyborg ninjas? Robotic ninjas.

the purple and red(flame) ninjas are hard enough, no need to give them any aid. I wouldn't enjoy that.

and cyborg ninjas? well, they wouldn't be much different from the cops and soldiers on very hard.
And the boss an chapter 3 and 10 are basically cyborgs, just very fat ones. =D

sorry, I'm like this, I don't mean to disagree.

I'm completely fine with NG as it is, but one thing that I'd love to have on the game is PvP.

you know, instead of co-op, 2 people would fight each other, this would be so awesome.

so you'll want to keep playing the same engineering system and work used from past Ninja Gaiden games? whereas we are in the next gen and you don't want next gen features:/
Yet people keep complaining about the features in NG:/ ok...

Well I'll stick with my new ideas and hope Team NINJA use them.


We've gone through the player vs player idea.
It won't work. If you've played lots of Fighting games online, you'll know how people play and abuse the system: "play to win".
*People will always pick Ryu
*Don't forget people who abuse the system, by manipulating the i-frame system
*People will constantly block 90% of the game match
*People will counter attack
*People will spam the same attacks: flying swallow, izuna drop, gullatine throw

Yes the fight may be like Evil Ryu vs You. But Evil Ryu doesn't abuse the system, yes there are times it can outsmart you. I myself hate fighting that guy, but still want him in the game throughout the NG series.


If it's a Player vs Player with fiends. That may work out. Because players who are meant to battle themselves will be distracted by fiends/bosses.
I just want a Team versus: 2 player vs 2 Player with fiends. Sort of like Racism Evil 5/ Resident Evil 5's Versus Mode.

I agree that vs wont work . and I think the co-op is the best online mode that fits the game . unless they make a race like who finishes an objective first , like follow a target on the run, avoid obstacles and enemies and stop the other player from reaching the target first.
first to collect or kill the target wins .

lol..the follow the target won't work too. This isn't Sonic Da Hedgehog:P

NG is all about combat. Unless you say, follow the target and eliminate enemies along the way.
But it won't work, because you can just perform Wind Run/Path on enemies and get to the target quicker.

I revived this old topic because there's something I want to point out and they are really important.
I've renamed this topic from Ninja Gaiden 3 by Team NINJA to Addressing Sigma's port problems.
The reason why I'm doing this is for Tecmo to take notes on the problems with the Ports and pass it to Team NINJA can take note for future productions/references.


Ok I'll start, by the way I'll still be using the same problems I pointed out before:
Other discussions made on this topic can be ignored for starters.

Hayashi's team making a port of original Ninja Gaiden games on the Xbox are always good with some additional contents and added features, however something added and changed actually makes the Sigma port a bad version

*The new enemies they added to Ninja Gaiden Sigma were nice additions though the way they interact or fight or basically what or how they are, are just bad.
-Bikers- It was really cool to see these soldiers riding a bike and attacking Ryu but how does this deal with gameplay mechanics? They ride vertical, shoot at you and ride back to knock you off your feet. That's alright but one annoying thing is how to kill them. Shurikens do not work though Windmill Shuriken gives little by little damages and lets not forget you get the Shuriken later in the game in harder difficulties (same goes to the Guillotine Throw). Flying Swallow Technique works on them by 40 out of 100 chances. Another thing that makes this challenging is the time limit you get and things gets really hard and heated in Harder difficulties.

-White fire ghost- I do not know the purposes of these enemies if they are even fends or not. Their attack patterns are always random which is a good thing. But the way they attack can be strictly annoying, it's like the A.I always guess the time you are about to attack and the enemies instantly attack you before you even touch them. They make the same noises, though different noises is preferred to show the ghost are not the same 1 being enemy.

-Mermen Fiends-
One thing I'll like to say is, it's a good thing they removed water battle in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and I hope they keep removing water battle in future NG games. Fighting these fiends under water is not doable, in fact we are not even meant to fight them under water. There's nothing wrong with them, it's just the bad implemented water battle that makes it less fun to fight them.

-Alternator-There's nothing to really complain about him, but the bad thing about him is when he does the charging attack. If you look at Dynamo's attack patterns, you can tell and feel what he'll do (even though you get hit). As for Alternator that speed charging attack move just happens out of imagination. Like I said, he isn't nothing to really complain about. As for the charging move, perhaps I may only be the one who has a problem with the attack.


-Controlling Rachel-I'll like to change my words from before. One thing I'll just say is her 360 degree attack reacts too slow. Even in Sigma 2, rotating the analogue stick doesn't allow her to perform the 360 attack perfectly, you must pause for a second and rotate the analogue completely in 360 circle for Rachel to perform the 360 attack.


-Platforming-Where is the invisible barriers to stop you from falling? Half of the barriers were removed in Sigma. I mean the only part you can remove the barriers and expect players to use their platforming skills is when you are doing puzzles.


-Button Mapping- Using [] to attack and also to interact with objects, that could have been fixed in Sigma 1. Though Hayashi and others did not think ahead of themselves at that point, and thus Itagaki fixing that collide problem in Ninja Gaiden 2. And then you have O to interact and revive down team mate. Using O to interact during Single Player wasn't bad, but it caused problems with Team Mission revival. I don't get why your chosen character let's say Ryu always use shurikens at close radius point, but when far away you are likely to revive your partner in a 7/10 probability.
I hope in the next NG, if the control mapping can be sorted out, we should have the chance to use an unused button for interaction. I mean L3 is the only unused button.

-6 Axis- I don't know how button mapping works in game developments. In other games, you can use the same action controls to perform many things during different points in the game. It was awesome to have the 6 axis+ninpo support in Sigma 1. Others felt that it was stupid or fun to use the 6 axis to control the breast of the female characters in Sigma 2. I felt that it was a waste in Sigma 2. What I want to say is, isn't there a way to use the 6 axis motion for different types of gameplay or uses? Or can the 6 axis only be used for 1 mapped action sequence? I would really like to use the 6 axis to control the ninpo charge again, use it for getting enemies off Ryu and controlling the girl's breast.


-Playable Characters- Someone gives you something, you appreciate it then again you feel it was unneeded. This is how it feels like with additional playable characters. It's nice to be able to play as other characters with their unique abilities, though also unneeded because they only have 1 chapters or 3 chapters.
Team NINJA should really go back to the old concept of gameplays back in the days. This is how Bayonetta is a GOTY nomination or 10/10, because they used old gameplay mechanics back in the days and ignoring new gameplay we are all used to.
The old concept for use with Extra playable characters can be, finish the story mode with Ryu. And then we can use the character/rival/adversary connection with Ryu in single player to be playable. For an example, NG1's unlockable character can be Doku, NG2 playable character can be Genshin etc. Once unlocked we can use the character as a reskin over Ryu in Story mode. This was how Mortal Kombat Shoalin Monks did theirs. With a re-skin of Lui Kang to Scorpion, though Scorpion had his own individual moves. Even though the cutscenes wouldn't make sense with Genshin being Ryu. Again Genshin should not even be seen as a in-game cutscene.
Or again we can use your own concept and change it a little bit. Let's say Ayane was an unlockable character in Sigma 2 after clearing Mentor mode or just Story mode. She'll have her own separate 1 chapter story. (even though I think it'll be stupid to play with someone only having 1 chapter:/)


-Censorship-What is the deal in this? Removing beheading feature all the time? And now removing blood and replacing it with purple mist. If you are going to act like this, then start making games for Nintendo:/


-Exploiting- Too many people are exploiting the way to defeat bosses easily in Sigma 2. I know that Sigma 2 only had 1 year and a few months to port. So testing it 100% to figure out all these exploits would require more time. But if they are going to make another NG, please make sure it's fully tested and exploitation free. I hate Izuna Dropping Genshin infinity with Enma's Fang even though it feels good and just to save me time from getting hurt.


-Uselessness- They removed some annoying and broken bosses in Sigma 2 which was a good thing and also fixed some bosses which were a bad thing. I'm talking about Elizabeth. Oh my goodness, she's the smartest A.I ever and all her attack patterns are so random. It's so incredible hard to deal a large amount of damage without you taking some yourself.
We have revamped bosses like the Armadillo, this boss is even worst than NG2. You can't attack it head on or side ways, because it will grab you or knock you off your feet (in Master Ninja knocking you off your feet will take all your health). The only way to fight it is behind it, and the annoying spamming rolling ball comes along:/

Dark Dragon, new boss. This boss works just like the Armadillo, you can't attack it face to face or it'll eat you. You can't attack it side ways or the fire from it's rib cages will burn you. Only way to do so is by attacking it's tail.
Water Dragon, it would have been best to add a new boss instead of revamping this boss fight. Because in the end I still use the arrows to fight it.
Howling Cannon, was only added to fight these fixed bosses. It's still a waste and useless in the end!

Then you have the Statue of Liberty, fighting this boss was neat but the broken thing about it was shooting arrows or howling cannon to injure the protective chain on it's neck. This was really broken!



-[b[Linear Gameplay[/b]- I wouldn't complain about this because Ninja Gaiden 2 was rushed so adding a non-linear gameplay was impossible.


-Weapon limitation moveslist- I have no idea why the unique moveslist for Dragon Claw's Tiger Fangs were omitted in Ninja Gaiden 2. The DCTF had it's own moveslist like the Dragon Sword. You can perform flying swallow while doing the Izuna drop combo. You can perform izuna drop many ways with this wrapon. And then you have new added weapons Enma's Fang and Ayane's Weapon. In Ninja Gaiden 2 allowed you to use different weapons with different varieties of moves sets. Though these two couple weapons do not. Their moveslist are so limited and small. Enma's Fang has the same limited move lists like Ninja Gaiden 1. And Ayane's move list has small movelist for her.I can only remember about 4 or 5 combo moves for Ayane, which is a terrible sign.


-Realism- I love the realism Ninja Gaiden Sigma had, such as staggering enemies when hit, hold the block button for too long will allow enemy to knock you off your blocking stance (same goes to enemies). In NG2 I can literally hold the block button for ever.
Another thing I wanted to point out in the realism department that drove me to re-make this article. The cutscene introduction with Ayane and Obaba. As the scene starts, we see Ayane kill the last ninja and sheaths her blade back. Is there anything missing in this particular scene?
Yes, Ayane forgot to wipe out the blood or doesn't even pretends to wipe out the blood. This is a common thing for anyone who uses a sword, you always act as if you wipe off the blood on the sword. Team NINJA needs to address this next time, because it's so retarded how she can wipe off the blood on the weapon in-game, but she can't do it/them during cutscenes. And yet cutscenes are meant to be more real than actual gameplay.


-Real Time confusion- I remember following Sigma 1 in development and interviews. Hayashi said something about the CG with Ryu vs Doku will be removed and will be real time instead. I was hoping this means it will be a cutscene in real time with added QTE. Hayashi got Real Time and in-game confused or didn't say it right. But Doku vs Ryu was nothing special. It was just a way to remove the beheading CG video when Doku chopped off a lesser hayabusa ninja's head, and include a in-gameplay battle instead.


-[b]Dialogue[b]- Ok this is the thing that drove me to revive this topic, it's the cheap shot dialogues.
"Where, where is my sworn enemy, where is the dragon ninja" This is Marbus speaking. And the most ridiculous line he said in the game was "Some how I suspect we have different reasons for seeking him out". Seriously, how can you suspect something if you already know what it is. Obviously Rachel cannot have the same mission for seeking out Ryu like Marbus. You do not need to suspect or "I guess we have different..." or guess. It should be "though/thus we have different reasons for seeking him out". Another awful dialogue is with Ryu meeting Marbus again.
"I never expected you to come to the underworld of your own free will", that line was unneeded because Ryu came to Virgoor's Empire and Fiend Realm of his own free will. Anyway the line that bugs me is this: "Ironic? I don't care what you call it, stay out of my way". It's just stupid to give a Badass mother farker such a stupid @ss line. Why would Ryu who see a threat say "Stay out of my way"? "Ironic? Call it whatever you want (I don't care what you call it), you are still going to die".
Same thing goes to Ninja Gaiden 2 originally, one thing that makes Ryu badass was his less speaking, in NG2 he seems to speak more but chat rubbish when he does and making him less badass.

Don't forget Rachel's cheap line: "What was that?", "Something's out there..." OF COURSE something's out there, why do you need to let us know???



As you can see, new Team NINJA manages to fix some problem original Ninja Gaiden had, but they too do not direct the problem in a playable way or their new addition contains cheap problems.



And as for NG3 gameplay, Team NINJA seriously needs to come up with something that could rival or best Bayonetta's. Because Bayonetta is too good, and I'll never see or imagine any Hack n Slash besting it's gameplay in many years.
