After reading several times the interview I started to think why is this important?

My theory about the hand is that it simply looks like Ryu is taking off his mask. I have no clue on the blood though.

you know ninjas are supposed to keep their identities a secret until the time of their retirement. But Ruy being bloody and taking off the mask must signify something of enormous importance. There is also a reflection of a face visible in Ryu's eye, meaning that he couldn't have possibly be done with all the missions. This story will most likely be intense and will shock some players.

That's all I can say about the picture, I'm sure other ppl on this site will have something to say.

Ryu is definitely removing his mask to show his identity just like how Toshiro explains that a ninja always conceal his identity.

To me I think he will remove his mask when ever he talks/interacts with a special NPC.


The blood around his hands, no one can get this.
But I am saying it's linked to the Vampire Wars, might be a long short because Ninja Gaiden 3 will be a reboot.

that's a rather ignorant comment, it's not like the mask prevents him from speaking, and who could have so much respect as to force Ruy to speak with his mask down, he doesn't even take off the mask to speak with his father.

It might have been a blackmail, or some sort of a deal between the person seen in Ryu's eye and Ryu.

to me, the blood signifies that he just finished a brutal battle before facing the mysterious person. If there was no blood, the meaning of the taking off of the mask would change significantly.

there was also a shape made by the blood, and the flame in his eye that I cannot evaluate.

He takes off his mask when ever he interacts with someone to show sign of respect and to make that person know who he is.

Like:
--Saving a woman from a fiend--
+woman- who are you?
+ryu- *takes off his mask- I'm just a ninja
*leaves.

it's not as if the woman will hunt him down for seeing his face.

if Ryu did what you said above, I'd loose so much respect to the game and to the makers.

I mean, a ninja just doesn't take off his mask for something like that. (well, maybe if the girl insisted on kissing him)

but it's not a woman we see in Ryu's eye, but a hooded, masked unknown person who does not look like someone who can be trusted, yet Ryu is still taking off the mask, this is where I have a problem.

you are forgetting that this will be a reboot, so Ryu doing this must have a purpose.
